Houses in Didsbury and Prestwich, apartments in Ancoats and Deansgate, and bars, showrooms and offices across the city. We are forty minutes up the M66, which is close enough to look after what we install.

01 The city

Victorian lath and plaster on one job, a concrete slab on the next.

Manchester is two different jobs wearing the same postcode. In Didsbury, Chorlton, Heaton Moor and Prestwich you are working in tall Victorian and Edwardian rooms: lath and plaster ceilings that will not hold a heavy speaker, original cornice nobody wants cut, suspended timber floors that make cable routes easy and airborne noise between rooms a problem. Several of those streets are conservation areas, so what happens on the front elevation matters.

Move into town and the constraints invert. Apartments in Ancoats, Castlefield and around Deansgate are concrete and steel, so Wi-Fi dies at the core and nothing gets drilled without the freeholder’s blessing. There is no loft, no void and often no obvious home for a rack, so it goes into the utility cupboard and gets ventilated properly. Noise transfer through the structure decides how a cinema room is built long before the speaker choice does.

The third strand here is commercial. Bars, restaurants, showrooms and offices in the city need audio that is even from the door to the back wall, screens a member of staff can change without ringing anyone, and a system that survives being used by the public every day. That work runs to a contractor’s programme, and we are used to holding an AV package inside a fit-out.

TYPICAL HERE

Victorian and Edwardian villas in the southern suburbs, apartment conversions and new-build towers in the centre, and commercial fit-outs across the city.

WHAT IT ASKS FOR

Structural isolation for cinema, consent-friendly methods in managed buildings, and a channel plan that cuts through neighbouring networks.

03 Villages and areas

Where we work in Greater Manchester.

All of it is inside a comfortable drive of the workshop, which is why we can service what we install rather than posting a courier a part.

If your area is not listed, ring anyway. It almost certainly means we have simply not written it down yet.

05 Why local matters

The difference is what happens in year three.

01

Forty minutes up the M66

Close enough for a support visit the same week, and for the site meetings a city fit-out needs. Far enough out that our rates are not city-centre rates.

02

We know the buildings

Freeholder consent, riser access, lift bookings, loading bays and out-of-hours noise rules. We have done the paperwork before, so it does not stall the job.

03

Aftercare, not a ticket queue

Programming stays with us. A change to a scene or a source is a phone call to the person who wrote it, not a support portal.

04

Residential and commercial

Homes, bars, showrooms and offices from the same team. Named Best Commercial Integration Project at the 2025 Smart Buildings Awards.

06 Questions

Asked here most.

If yours is not here, ring the workshop. We would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

Yes, and it is worth starting the consent conversation early. Most city buildings will not allow drilling into the structure, external penetrations or work outside set hours, and many require the lift booking weeks ahead. We survey with all of that in mind: containment inside the demise, speakers that suit a concrete slab, a rack that lives in an existing cupboard, and a method statement your managing agent will accept. Where a landlord says no to something we will find the version they will say yes to.

Regularly. On commercial fit-outs we work to the main contractor’s programme, supply drawings and containment schedules at the right stage, and attend site meetings. We can hold the AV package as a subcontract or work directly for the client alongside the fit-out team, whichever suits. For bars and restaurants we will also handle the awkward bits: noise limiters, licensing conditions and audio that stays even from the door to the back of the room.

Not if it is built correctly, and this is the main reason city cinema rooms cost more than country ones. Bass travels through structure rather than air, so the fix is mechanical: isolated stud walls, resilient bars, a floating floor where the budget allows, and subwoofers positioned and limited to avoid exciting the building. We will measure what is actually leaking rather than guess, and we will tell you if the room cannot hit the level you want.

Manchester is a normal working day for us and there is no travel charge. We are based at Clayton-le-Dale, about forty minutes from the city centre, and we cover Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside from there. Support is usually within one or two working days, and same day if a venue has lost sound or a screen mid-trade.
