Sonos solved the hard part years ago: one app, every room, grouping in a second. What we bring is the installation around it.
- Sonos Amp and Port racked and ventilated, wired to architectural speakers.
- Speakers positioned and angled for where people stand and sit.
- A surveyed, wired network underneath, so every zone holds.
- Integrated into Control4 or KNX, so it is a room control and not a separate app.
Done that way it becomes the most-used system in the house. Everyone can operate it without being shown, and that counts for a great deal.

Sonos launched in 2002 out of Santa Barbara with a simple proposition: music in every room, controlled from one app, with no new wiring. It worked, and it changed what people expect. Two decades on it is still the easiest multi-room system to live with.
For our purposes the interesting products are the ones without speakers in them. The Amp drives wired ceiling, wall and outdoor speakers; the Port feeds an existing hi-fi. Architectural by Sonos, made with Sonance, supplies the speakers that go in the plaster. Sonos Pro adds commercial licensing for venues.
What we specify.
We work with the wired half of the range, where an installer genuinely adds something. The portable speakers are good products that need nothing from us.
What drives the cost.
Sonos hardware is a small part of the number. Zones, speakers and cabling are where the value sits.
How many zones
Each zone is an amplifier channel, a pair of speakers and a cable run. Six zones planned at first fix is the most economical way to do it, and the tidiest.
Which speakers
Ceiling speakers span a wide range of price and performance. In a hard-surfaced kitchen the difference is obvious, in a carpeted bedroom much less so, and we will say which is which.
The network underneath
Cabling and access points are what make the whole system feel instant. It is the least visible line on the quote and the one worth spending on.
