01 The partnership

One manufacturer, wall plate to DIN rail.

A KNX system can be assembled from a dozen manufacturers and still work, because that is the point of an open standard. It is quieter to live with, and quicker to support, when most of it comes from one.

  • FF and 71 series pushbuttons and thermostats, in matching plates across the house.
  • DIN-rail dimmers, actuators, thermal regulation and metering on the same product family.
  • Delègo server and wall panels for the rooms that want a screen rather than a button.
  • Sentio multiroom audio and Dico video entry brought onto the same bus.

The project file stays yours either way. Ekinex simply makes the schedule shorter and the panel neater, which matters more than it sounds when someone opens it in ten years.

03 The brand

Italian design, applied to building control.

Ekinex builds in Vaprio d’Agogna in Piedmont and covers an unusually wide span of a KNX installation, from the plate on the wall to the power supply in the panel. The wall devices come in technopolymer, metal and Fenix NTM finishes that can be mixed across a house, and the plate lines run from flat to deep so they suit period reveals as well as new plaster.

On the rail sit dimmers, switching and blind actuators, thermal regulation, metering and gateways, including DALI where the lighting calls for it. Above both, Delègo is the visualisation layer: a DIN-rail server with a direct KNX connection, wall panels, and apps for phone, tablet and desktop. Sentio adds multiroom audio and Dico adds video entry, both onto the same system.

What drives the cost.

The hardware is predictable. The design and the commissioning are where a KNX job is won or lost.

Driver 01

How many circuits

Every dimmed or switched circuit is a channel on an actuator and a cable back to the panel. Circuit count, decided with your electrician at first fix, sets most of the number.

Plate finish and line

Technopolymer, metal and Fenix NTM span a wide price band, and the plate line has to suit the wall it lands on. Settled early, this is a specification decision rather than a variation.

Commissioning and the project file

Grouping, scenes, thermostat logic and the visualisation are where the days go. It is also the part that makes the difference between a house that works and one that merely switches.

08 Common questions

Ekinex, plainly answered.

No, and that is the point. Ekinex devices are KNX devices. We often specify a full Ekinex schedule because it keeps a panel tidy, but the system will happily take Lutron, Basalte or anyone else on the same bus.

The screen layer. A small server on the DIN rail that reads the KNX system and presents it as a wall panel and an app, so a house has a visual way in as well as buttons.

Yes, through a gateway on the rail. In houses with a lot of architectural lighting that is often the cleanest way to do it, and it sits alongside conventional dimming on the same panel.

The wall devices come in technopolymer, metal and Fenix NTM, across several plate lines from flat to deep. Finishes mix, so a kitchen and a hallway can differ without the house looking assembled from parts.

The KNX project file goes with it, as it does on every KNX job we do. Any accredited KNX partner can take it on. We would rather keep looking after it, but you are not tied to us.

Yes. Hospitality and small commercial fit-outs are where the metering and thermal regulation modules earn their keep, and where a handful of well-chosen scenes beats a wall of switches.
