01 The coast

Sea light, salt air and rooms built around a view.

Coastal houses are designed to look out, which is lovely in March and a problem at six in the evening in July. West-facing glass turns a television unwatchable and a south-facing garden room into a greenhouse. Most of our work here starts with shading and ends with everything else.

Salt does the rest. External speakers, cameras and anything with a grille needs marine-grade specification or it will look tired in three summers. Pool rooms and garden rooms want kit rated for humidity and a rack sited somewhere dry, which is rarely the room the client first suggests.

The houses themselves are generous and mostly interwar or later, so cable routes exist. That means a lot of what we do here is proper whole-house work: audio through the ground floor, cinema in a converted garage, shading on every elevation, and one app that a family actually uses.

TYPICAL HERE

Large interwar and post-war houses in Lytham and St Annes, farmhouses behind Wrea Green, and garden and pool rooms added later.

WHAT IT ASKS FOR

Shading first, marine-grade kit outside, humidity-rated rooms and a rack kept well away from the pool plant.

Where we work on the coast.

All of it within forty minutes of the workshop, which is why we can service what we install rather than posting a courier a part.

If your village is not on the list, ring anyway. It almost certainly means we have simply not written it down yet.

05 Why local matters

The difference is what happens in year three.

01

We are thirty-five minutes away

Close enough that a support visit is an afternoon, and close enough to be on site when the joiner needs an answer.

02

We specify for salt and sun

Marine-grade outside, humidity-rated in wet rooms, and shading treated as part of the system rather than an afterthought.

03

Aftercare from a local base

Spares and loan kit sit in the workshop at Clayton-le-Dale. Programming is ours, so a change does not wait on a subcontractor.

04

Accredited, and checkable

Trained and certified on Control4, KNX, Lutron and Trinnov. Named Best Commercial Integration Project at the 2025 Smart Buildings Awards.

06 Questions

Asked here most.

If yours is not here, ring the workshop. We would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

It will if the room is dealt with honestly. We measure where the sun lands through the day, then specify shading and a screen that suits it — often a brighter panel with a matt finish rather than the largest one available. Blinds on a schedule do more for picture quality here than any amount of processing.

Marine-grade or nothing. External speakers and cameras get stainless fixings and coated grilles, and we keep terminations out of the prevailing weather. It costs a little more at the start and saves replacing a set of speakers after three summers.

Yes, with kit rated for it. Speakers go in as sealed, humidity-rated units, amplification lives somewhere dry and well away from the plant room, and control is a keypad rather than a tablet nobody wants near water. We have done several and they are straightforward if specified properly.
