Belgian, made by hand, and unusually restrained.
Basalte builds in Merelbeke, near Ghent, and has taken a deliberately narrow view of what it makes: the controls, the server and the audio that sit at the surface of a KNX installation. Everything is finished in solid material rather than printed plastic, and the range holds together across a house instead of looking like a catalogue.
The Sentido keypad is the core of it, available in two and four button layouts and a dozen finishes from brushed black through bronze and brushed brass. Deseo adds a thermostat and room controller in the same language. Behind the wall, Core and Core Plus servers connect directly to KNX and run the Basalte Home app, along with Asano multiroom audio and Aalto speakers where the same restraint is wanted from the sound.

The range is small on purpose. These are the pieces that earn their place in most of our projects.
What drives the cost.
Keypads are the visible line on the quote. The work behind them is what makes them worth having.
How many wall positions
Every keypad is a bus connection, a back box and a cable route. Deciding positions at first fix costs almost nothing; adding them to a plastered wall costs a great deal.
Finish and engraving
The finish range spans a wide price band, and engraving is done to your wording. Worth settling alongside the ironmongery rather than at the end of the job.
What the server has to talk to
A Core running lights and blinds is straightforward. One tying in audio, cameras, gates, pool plant and a cinema is a programming job, and that is where the time goes.
